This August, Barista Supplies proudly brought the Cafec Brew Masters competition to coffee lovers across Australasia, hosting the very first New Zealand edition in Auckland, followed by a stellar event in Melbourne.
New Zealand’s First Cafec Brew Masters – Auckland
On 1st August, we made history with the debut of Cafec Brew Masters New Zealand, hosted at the beautiful Machine Limited showroom in Auckland. It was a day of skill, precision, and passion for pour-over brewing, with competitors showcasing their mastery using Cafec drippers and filter papers.
After a series of impressive performances, the podium was claimed by:
1st: John Huang
2nd: Divit Poojary
3rd: Aoi Kobayashi
Congratulations to John for taking home the inaugural New Zealand title, and to all competitors for bringing their best to the table.
Melbourne’s Cafec Brew Masters – Richmond
Just days later, on 7th August, the competition crossed the Tasman and landed in Melbourne at Veneziano Coffee Roasters in Richmond. The atmosphere was electric, with seasoned baristas and passionate brewers pushing the limits of filter coffee excellence.
Our Melbourne champions were:
1st: Jordan Morrison
2nd: Sunghwan Min
3rd: Pam Promsri
Jordan's performance was nothing short of inspiring, securing him the Australian title for 2025.
Celebrating the Cafec Philosophy
The Cafec Brew Masters competition is more than just a battle for the top spot — it’s a celebration of the craft of hand-brewing coffee. From grind size to pour technique, competitors demonstrated the artistry and science that go into creating the perfect cup.
Barista Supplies is proud to partner with Cafec Japan to bring this event to our region, giving baristas and home brewers alike the opportunity to connect, share, and inspire.
A huge thank you to our hosts — Machine Limited in Auckland and Veneziano Coffee Roasters in Melbourne — as well as all the competitors, judges, and supporters who made these events possible.
We can’t wait to see where the Cafec Brew Masters journey takes us next!
